About the Recipe
Warming, soothing and filling, this is the perfect mid-afternoon drink that, along with all its nutritional benefits, will help you hydrate and feel satiated at the same time.

Ingredients
1 tsp turmeric paste
1 cup warm milk (coconut, rice or almond)
Maple syrup or local honey, to taste
½ tsp coconut oil, ghee, almond or sesame butter
Optional: cinnamon, vanilla, black pepper or ginger
Preparation
Step 1
Gently heat all the ingredients until just bubbling. Do not over-boil.
Step 2
Pour into a cup and enjoy! Top with cinnamon, vanilla, shredded coconut, black pepper or ginger as desired.
Turmeric has been shown to be anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-microbial. The medicinal properties of turmeric may not be absorbed well unless consumed with black pepper — the piperine in black pepper enhances the effectiveness of curcumin by 2,000%. The fats in the recipe also increase absorption of fat-soluble compounds found in turmeric.
